Our Wedding’s Theme

Wedding DressOur wedding will have a Celtic-like medieval flavor to it. Renaissance period, you can say. But it’s not a themed wedding, and there won’t be any kilts. (Sorry, Spanky!)

But we wanted something less traditional and wedding-like, because we were both married before, and this is a celebration for an extraordinary love between two people — so we chose an “extra-ordinary” wedding.

So I wanted to share with you some pictures of the type of dress that is being made as we speak. We managed to find the perfect seamstress, and she’s putting together a dress from the various dress models I liked.

Sylvie will be similar to this one (it’s the top one). The Maid Of Honor dress is going to look a bit like this, but with cream-colored top and maroon colored skirt.

And the bridesmaids dress is going to look a bit like this, with cream top and maroon skirt. However, the skirt will have a unique style like this (but longer in the back).

And the guys are going to wear tuxedo pants, with maroon cummerbunds, with shirts like this (no jacket or anything, except for maybe a vest).

My sister, who is an usher on my side (“groomsman” or, in the this case, “groomswoman”), so she will wear the same tuxedo pants and shirt, but instead of the cummerbund, our seamstress will modify a matching vest to create an underbust corset style, to feminize her outfit.

Our major colors are all cream, dark maroon/red (burgundy) and of course, the guys will have black tuxedo pants. They can wear whatever shoes they like (or cowboy boots in Armand’s case LOL!), as long as they are black and dressy.

Also, since we wanted a bit of the medieval theme (not too much), and a little less traditional, we decided on doing the handfasting ceremony as well, insteas of candles or ring exchanges. (Although, we will have the exchange of rings before we fast our hands.)

This is the process where the celebrant (or “officiant”) ties both the groom and the bride, by the hand, to symbolize their union and commitment to each other.

And of course, being writers , we’re going to write and proclaim our own vows. And guess what? We’re having a very special guest, a talented musician and guitarist who’s also an Internet marketer like us (gosh, practically 90% of people there are marketers!), will be playing classical guitar for us as we walk down the aisle.

Sigh…
