I look forward to you guys coming over here to Italy. Right now it is absolutely beautiful (spring) - and as you will see, August has it's own late summer charm. It will be great fun for you. Couple of small corrections from your post: Sienna is halfway between Rome (south) and Florence (north) - but Venice is North of Florence about 3 hours drive- no biggie, just so you know. Nothing against Ohio - but I'm originally from San Jose, California (who knows were Ohio came from?) :-) And to confirm what Barry said - the Amalfi coast is stunning - but so you don't end up spending too much time in a car - you might want to plan a second trip, and a third, and a fourth... :-) All this varied beauty deserves it.
